This light and delicate loose-leaf tea comes from the Jian’ou County of the Fujian province of China, and Yezi’s is brought to you by local farmer Yu Qizhao.
When White Peony tea leaves dry, they twist into small and irregular floral patterns. The similarity of the tea to flowers is readily noticed once again in the exquisite floral notes it emanates during the brewing process.
The White Peony is only produced from tea leaves picked in the springtime, and the young leaves are gently dried in the sun on bamboo trays. The brew is a natural yellow color and has distinct notes of almond. The tea is low in caffeine and makes for a quiet, pleasant, and meditative evening companion.
Very clean and smooth evening white tea. A light fruity taste. This tea is very similar to Silver Needle, but not quiet there.
I considered myself a tea connoisseur.I have a higher interest in green and oolong teas more, but recently, also guayusa. In the past, I've tasted Snowbud and Silver Needle white teas. This is the first time I've had White Peony. If only I could post pictures on here, the color from the White Peony is slightly darker than the most popular Silver Needle. While Silver Needle tea is a tad bit sweeter than White Peony, the White Peony has a more earthy and refreshing note. Since this tea is "high grade". I actually eat the leaves after brewing for more antioxidant properties. This tea has a smooth body, with it's mild taste, and hint of floral sweetness, I can see why this tea is ideal for beginner tea drinkers. I personally like my teas stronger, but I have an appreciation for the delicate and clean taste.
